To See & Do
The station and pier continue today as the rail terminus on the Glasgow to Wemyss Bay line, from where the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry sails to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. The island still offers many delights to the visitor as well as the resident. The splendours of Mount Stuart, home of the Marquis of Bute, and Rothesay Castle, a magnificent medieval ruin in the centre of the town, are just two examples.
The surrounding area also offers a range of activities including local cycle routes and walks, golf courses, fishing and historic sites.

Walkers could take the train to Wemyss Bay and do the stretch to Largs, and then take a train back to Glasgow, thus enjoying a picturesque round trip.
